

The classes of characters are whitespace, word characters, and non-word characters. A word is defined as a string delimited by characters of a different class. When you double-click in the terminal window, a 'word' is selected. This includes all the characters in the initial release, several released in subsequent years, and a number that never reached public release. Characters considered part of a word for selection.
